updating...

So where to start.....First of all, my flight gets in at 5:30 on Saturday, not at 9. Is anyone possibly around to pick me up? It would be enormously appreciated!!!
So I guess I left off somewhere on Saturday. We went to Sushi Zone for all you can eat sushi and Asian food and generally stuffed ourselves silly. There were about 12 people there for Jenny's birthday and it was lots of fun. Jenny and I went to the Mojito Cafe afterwards for drinks and then met up with her friends Eleanor and Shawn. We went to a club called 169 and stayed out til about 3am. Although I hate this expression, all I can say is that it was hot. I will give no more details.
Sunday we went out for breakfast and then back to the market at Greenpoint so that I could pick up a few more things. It was gorgeous out so we just hung out and tanned for part of the afternoon as we were a little tired.
Monday we got up really early and went to the beach at Nordhooek to go horseback riding. We got to ride for about an hour and a half and it was wonderful. All the pictures of me on the horse are really horrific and I am not showing them to anyone. Afterwards we drove down to the Cape of Good Hope and went to the nature reserve. I got all kinds of pictures of different animals and the amazing scenery. We went on the walk to Cape Point, which is the most South Westerly point in Africa. It's basically a walk up a long steep hill up to a lighthouse, and then a half hour walk along a rocky, hilly path for about a half hour. It's worth the hike though as the view is spectacular. We could not have asked for better weather either. You could smell the flowers in the air. A little while later we stopped for a late lunch in the park, while keeping an eye out for baboons as they will attack, particularly if you have food (seriously, they're really vicious and will steal your stuff). When we got back into town we tried to go for Ethiopian food with Kende, but the restaurant was closed and we ended up going for Italian instead.
We slept in this morning and then Kende took us for Ethiopian for lunch instead. It was incredibly delicious and very messy. You eat with this sort of spongy pancake thing and no utensils. We ran around doing some groceries and various errands and are now home as it is cold and raining.

Catie, I've really enjoyed reading about your adventures. Of course, I really relate to the food and wine observations (I've actually had "Goats do Roam" because the name is a pun on "Cotes du Rhone" which is a French wine region that produces the kind of wine I try to make--mostly grenache and syrah grapes). It's interesting, isn't it, how "difficult" things become the minute you get out of your own culture, even when you know the langague.

Have a great flight back, and I'll call after you've settled back in. Love

Uncle Eric

Hey Caitlin,
I'm playing ultimate on Sat - and don't have any idea when it'll be done. Also some people are coming over for a bbq afterwards so I won't be able to come pick you up (plus it would cost about $25 so it's probably just as cheap to take the aerobus and a taxi from the bus station - although maybe a bit longer).
Have a safe flight back! And I can't wait to see pictures!!
