a little more...
So on Wednesday, Jenny and I headed out to Khayelitshe with her friend Sadie and Sadie's roommate Bryn. Sadie volunteers at the orphanage there. I'm not even sure I can describe what it was like. There are about 150 children, ranging from a 4 month old baby named Pinky to teenagers. We mainly played with the babies and the young children. I fell absolutely head over heels in love with this little girl who's name I can barely pronounce and will not attempt to spell. The kids were amazing. Sadie is trying to adopt one of the baby girls who is just the cutest thing. We stayed there for the whole afternoon and just sat on the floor and played with all the kids. I got my hair done very nicely! I found one of the little boys having a seizure and sat with one of the little girls who is sick because she's just starting ARV's. The whole thing just breaks your heart into a million pieces and you want to bring all the little kids home and rescue them. It's by far been the most overwhelming experience I've had here and I'm going to try and get more information about the orphanage and sponsoring one of the kids.
